Winter Skin Care in Las Vegas: Dry Air, Heaters and Sun
By Tiffany · October 8, 2026 · 7 min read
Winter in Las Vegas feels like a break. The afternoons cool off, patios are pleasant again and sunscreen slips off the to-do list. Your skin may not agree. The air is still dry, the heater is running indoors and the sun has not gone anywhere. Here is how I suggest adjusting your routine for the cooler months, and where a facial fits in. Everyone's skin is different, so use this as a starting point, not a prescription.
What Changes When Las Vegas Cools Off
Cooler weather does not mean more humid weather. The desert air stays dry through the winter, and many clients tell me their skin feels tighter or flakier in the cooler months than it did in summer.
Indoor heating adds to that. Heaters, long hot showers and full days in climate-controlled offices, cars and casinos can all leave skin feeling drier by evening. On windy days, cheeks and lips can feel chapped, too.
The Sun Is Still Out
Las Vegas gets plenty of sunny winter days, and UV is present year-round, even when it feels cool outside. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher, remains one of the most useful habits in desert skin care. Think about the drive to work, a weekend hike, a round of golf or an afternoon on a patio.
If you are planning a chemical peel or microchanneling this winter, sun protection matters even more, because skin is more sensitive to the sun afterward. Your written aftercare instructions always come first.
Home Routine Basics for Winter
These are suggestions, not rules. If something does not agree with your skin, stop using it and ask us or a dermatologist.
Cleanse gently. A creamy or low-foam cleanser that leaves skin feeling comfortable rather than squeaky is a good winter choice for many people, and lukewarm water usually feels better than hot.
Layer your moisture. Many people like a hydrating serum or toner on slightly damp skin, followed by a moisturizer. If your daytime moisturizer seems to disappear by mid-afternoon, a richer cream at night may feel more comfortable.
Remember your lips, hands and neck. Use a lip balm (one with SPF during the day), hand cream after washing, and carry your moisturizer and sunscreen down onto your neck.
Run a humidifier in the bedroom if you have one. Many clients say their skin feels more comfortable in the morning when they do.
Go easy on exfoliation. Tight, dry winter skin can feel irritated more easily, so scrubs and strong exfoliating products may be worth scaling back. If you use a retinoid or an exfoliating acid, introduce it slowly and pull back if your skin feels raw. If you are pregnant, nursing or using prescription skincare, check with your doctor before starting any retinoid or acid. For a fuller step-by-step routine, see our desert skincare routine guide.
When to Book a Facial This Winter
Many clients choose a facial roughly every four to six weeks, but how often you come in depends on your skin, your goals and your budget. Our facial frequency guide goes into more detail.
A Custom facial ($85, 45 minutes) is tailored to how your skin looks that day. The Hydroglow facial ($145, 60 minutes) is a hydrating, brightening facial, and a Hydrojelly mask add-on ($15) adds a hydrating mask to your facial. You can also add dermaplaning to a Custom facial ($115, 60 minutes). If your skin is very dry, irritated or windburned that day, we may suggest skipping the dermaplane and keeping things gentle.
Many of our clients also use the cooler months for a chemical peel series or microchanneling with Procell. Our booking page lists a $30, 45-minute Consultation as required before either one, so we can review your skin history and plan timing together. Our first visit guide explains what happens at that appointment. Results vary.
Have holiday events coming up? Our holiday party skin prep timeline covers what to book and when.
When to See a Dermatologist Instead
Skin that cracks or bleeds, a rash that spreads or itches, dry patches that do not improve with a gentle routine, or any spot that changes in size, shape or color are reasons to see a dermatologist rather than book a facial. Esthetic services are about comfort and the look of your skin, not medical care.
What It Costs
The prices above come from our GlossGenius booking page as of October 8, 2026. Every service, option and deposit is listed on our pricing page, and the booking page is always the final word on current prices.
Winter skin care in Las Vegas comes down to three things: be gentle, add moisture and keep wearing sunscreen. A facial every few weeks can help your skin feel more comfortable through the dry months, and results vary. If you are new to the studio, start with our first visit guide or book a Custom facial and we will talk through your winter plan together.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need sunscreen in Las Vegas in winter?
We suggest it. UV is present year-round, and Las Vegas has plenty of sunny winter days. Daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, reapplied when you are outdoors, is a simple habit that matters in every season.
Why does my skin feel drier in winter when it is cooler?
The desert air stays dry in winter, and indoor heating and hot showers can add to that dry feeling. Many people find a gentler cleanser, a richer moisturizer at night and a bedroom humidifier make their skin feel more comfortable. If dryness is severe, cracked or itchy, see a dermatologist.
Is winter a good time for a chemical peel in Las Vegas?
Many of our clients schedule peel series in the cooler months. A $30 Consultation is required before your first peel so we can review your skin history and plan timing. Sun protection afterward still matters in winter, and results vary.
How often should I get a facial in winter?
Many clients come in every four to six weeks. The right rhythm depends on your skin, goals and budget, and we can suggest one at your appointment.
