Desert Shores is a master-planned community in northwest Las Vegas built around a set of man-made lakes — an unusual thing to find in the Mojave, and the reason the neighborhood has a character all its own. Waterfront living here comes with a skin-care consequence most residents never connect: water reflects ultraviolet light back up at you. Time on a dock, a paddleboard, or a lakeside patio effectively doubles part of your sun exposure, and the reflected portion hits the underside of the chin, the jawline, and the front of the neck — precisely the areas a standard sunscreen routine misses. We see that pattern often enough in Desert Shores clients that we check for it by default rather than waiting to be told.
Desert Shores sits well north of our studio, and the mileage puts some residents off before they check the route. It should not. Durango Drive runs continuously from your neighborhood straight to our door — no freeway, no transfers, one road for roughly fifteen minutes. Because it is a single-road trip it is also predictable: you are not gambling on a 215 backup at 5 PM. Desert Shores clients typically settle into monthly maintenance rather than one-off visits, which makes the drive worth systematising. Pick a standing weekday evening slot and it stops being a decision. Our Saturday hours run 10 AM to 1 PM if mornings suit you better.
Local Skin Care Note
Pool and lake time in Las Vegas is a double hit on the skin barrier. Chlorine strips the lipid layer directly. The valley's sub-20% humidity then pulls whatever moisture is left straight out through evaporation. The result residents describe is skin that feels tight within an hour of getting out of the water, then flakes for days afterward. The fix is not piling more moisturiser on top — it is barrier repair underneath, plus adjusting when and how often you exfoliate. If you swim regularly, say so at consultation. It changes which actives we use and how frequently we recommend them.
