Your First Visit & Consultation

New to Heavenly Skin? This page covers what a consultation is, when you need one, how to prepare, what to bring and which service to book first, so your first appointment at our Spring Valley studio feels easy.

The Consultation at Heavenly Skin is $30 for 45 minutes, and our booking page lists no deposit for it. It is required before microchanneling and chemical peels. Facials, the back facial and the lash lift can be booked directly. Arrive with a clean face if you can, bring a list of the products you use, and review our policies for deposits and cancellations before you book.

What a Consultation Is

A consultation is a 45-minute appointment for talking through your skin before a treatment. On our GlossGenius booking page it is listed as "Consultation": $30, 45 minutes, with no deposit shown. We review your skin history and current routine, listen to what you would like to change, answer your questions and decide together whether a treatment is appropriate for your skin.

It is a conversation, not a sales pitch. If a treatment is not a good fit right now, we will tell you and suggest something that is, whether that is a custom facial, a change to your home routine or simply waiting for a better time of year.

When a Consultation Is Required

Our booking page describes the Consultation as "Required prior to booking microneedling or chemical peels to ensure you're a suitable candidate and to customize your treatment for the best results." At Heavenly Skin that means microchanneling with Procell (our microneedling-style treatment) and chemical peels. Our policies page says the same.

Our booking page does not list a consultation requirement for facials, the back facial or the lash lift. If you are unsure whether something you want needs one, call us or simply book the Consultation and we will sort it out together.

What to Bring

  • A list or photos of the skincare products you use now, including cleansers, serums, sunscreen and anything prescription.
  • Any medications, allergies, skin conditions or recent procedures we should know about. Our policies ask you to tell your esthetician about these before treatment.
  • Your questions, and what you would most like to change about your skin.
  • Any upcoming dates, such as a wedding, trip or event, so we can plan timing around them.

How to Prepare

Our pre-treatment guidelines ask you to arrive with a clean face, with no makeup if possible, so your skin can be seen as it is. Before a chemical peel or microchanneling appointment, the same guidelines ask you to avoid retinol and exfoliating products for 48 hours.

A few more suggestions: try not to arrive sunburned or with freshly irritated skin, give yourself a few minutes to park and settle in, and if you have started a new medication or prescription skincare, let us know when you arrive. The full guidelines, including late arrivals, are on our policies page.

Deposits and Cancellations

Deposits and cancellations follow our policies page. In short: some services need a deposit when you book, the amount varies by service and is shown on the booking page, and it is applied toward your service. Please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule; cancellations with less notice and no-shows forfeit the deposit.

The Consultation itself has no deposit listed on the booking page. For every service's price, length and deposit in one place, see our pricing page.

A Note on Medical Concerns

Heavenly Skin offers esthetic services. A consultation is not a medical exam or diagnosis, and results from any treatment vary from person to person. If you have a skin condition, a mole that has changed, or breakouts that are painful, deep or widespread, please see a dermatologist or your doctor. If you are pregnant, nursing or using prescription skincare, check with your doctor before booking an advanced treatment.

First Visit FAQs

How much is a consultation at Heavenly Skin?

The Consultation is $30 and lasts 45 minutes. Our GlossGenius booking page does not list a deposit for it, so you can book it online without one.

When is a consultation required?

Our booking page lists the Consultation as required before microchanneling (Microchanneling w/ Procell) and chemical peels. It is how we confirm the treatment is a good fit for your skin and plan it around your history and routine. Facials, the back facial and the lash lift can be booked directly.

Should I come to my first visit without makeup?

Our policies ask you to arrive with a clean face, with no makeup if possible. If you are coming for a chemical peel or microchanneling, our policies also ask you to avoid retinol and exfoliating products for 48 hours beforehand.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Bring a list (or photos) of the skincare products you use now, plus any medications, prescription skincare, allergies or skin conditions we should know about. It also helps to bring your questions and any upcoming dates, such as a wedding or trip, that you want to plan around.

What is the cancellation policy?

Our policies page asks for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice, or no-shows, forfeit the deposit. Deposits vary by service, are listed on the booking page and are applied toward the cost of your service. See the full policies page for details.

I'm not sure what to book first. Where should I start?

If you are curious about microchanneling or a chemical peel, start with a Consultation. If you simply want a professional facial, a Custom facial is a comfortable first appointment. If acne is your main concern, the Acne Bootcamp consult + first treatment is designed as a starting point for that program.

Is a consultation a medical exam?

No. Heavenly Skin provides esthetic services, and a consultation is an esthetic skin review, not a diagnosis. For medical skin conditions, a changing mole, or persistent or painful breakouts, please see a dermatologist or your doctor.
